#Foreveralone

2016 is over and 2017 has just begun. In typical end of year fashion, social media became saturated with “being single” memes/posts and statuses. To the masses these posts are seen as light-hearted jokes but, in actuality they reflect bitterness and a deep seeded insecurity.

I'm Sorry

Are you one of those people who often apologizes?

Do you find yourself always saying, “I’m sorry?”

If you reflect on them apologies, are they due to actions that truly warrant an, "I'm sorry?"

I’m guessing your answer is, no.

In the pursuit of happiness

In the journey of uncovering the depths of my self-awareness, I have come to understand that I have spent a lot of time chasing happiness. Happiness was always my end goal. Wherever I turned, be that real life or social media, I felt everyone was happy, but I was not. Experiences from the past, present or those anticipated for the future were on my mind. I felt they were the reason for my withheld happiness.

So, what do you do?

Over the years, I have noticed that a staple conversational point in meeting new people, catching up with acquaintances and friends was always education or career related. Majority of the times it would be posed in the manner, so, what do you do?

Working through difficult times

Heartbroken. Job loss. Losing friends. Conflict in personal relationships. Family breakdown. Dissatisfied with life. Loneliness. Stuck in a job. Career not going anywhere. A non-existent love life. Constantly battling the mind. Deterioration in health. Struggling with body image. Financial problems. Dealing with bereavement. One of these, some of these or others reflect the difficulties that we as people go through.

Is time a barrier for you?

In anticipation of turning twenty-five I have been evaluating my achievements. By the time I was twenty-five I had set goals that I hoped to be working towards or had achieved. By the time I was thirty I wanted to have solidified these goals and made headway into other milestones. Upon analysing my life, I realised I had not fully done what I set out to achieve by the time I was twenty- five. I felt like a failure.

Why am I so fat?

I have asked myself this question when stood in front of my bathroom mirror grabbing them jiggly pieces of flab before going into the shower. I have asked myself this question when I looked at myself in a changing room mirror whilst examining the fitting of an outfit. I have asked myself this question when trying to take a selfie or group picture in the least ‘fat’ looking angle that I could. I have asked myself this question after getting off the weighing scale, and not seeing a change in the numbers. I have asked myself this question before stepping into the Muslim marriage market. Will my value as a potential prospect be lowered because of my weight?

Why am I so fat? A question that has knocked on the door of mind too many times.

Are you waiting to be chosen?

She sat staring at her computer screen, logged onto MSN Messenger. She was waiting for him to sign on. She saw his name appear online and her eyes twinkle. He says, “Hey, how’s it going?” From then on they speak for hours into the night. Chatting about all sorts of random things. They end their conversation because it’s getting late. She goes to sleep with a smile on her face. She thinks to herself, out of everyone, all the girls he could have spoken to, he spent the night chatting to me. He really likes me.
